Les mendiants en chocolat, ont une origine traditionnelle française. Ils tirent leur nom des moines franciscains, appelés "mendiants" en raison de leur robe marron. Ces délicieuses gourmandises sont apparues au XIXème siècle et sont devenues populaires en tant que friandises de Noël en France.
